What Are They?
Magic mushrooms, also known as psilocybin mushrooms or just plain “shrooms”, are found in over two hundred varieties worldwide. Many people today use them recreationally to induce hallucinations and a sense of euphoria, or in microdose form for therapeutic reasons. Although new to many, surprisingly, the ancient origin of magic mushrooms goes back thousands of years. Let’s explore the history shared by mankind with the psychoactive drug psilocybin found in magic mushrooms.

Prehistoric Use
Stone paintings provide proof that indigenous Saharan tribes in North Africa may have utilized mushrooms as early as 9000 BC. Rock paintings found in Spain from approximately 6000 years ago imply the use of Psilocybin during sacred ceremonies near Villar del Humo. It is highly plausible that prehistoric civilizations were utilizing mushrooms even prior to this period, although we have not yet discovered any substantiating evidence. Many people also believe in a theory that magic mushrooms could have even been the catalyst that induced the consciousness to bring humanity from neanderthal to what we are today.

Early Western Use
The Western civilized world only encountered psilocybin in the late 1950s. R. Gordon Wasson, along with Roger Heim and assistance from Albert Hofmann, successfully extracted and identified two hallucinogenic drugs – psilocybin and psilocin – found within mushrooms collected from the Mazatec tribe during a Mexican expedition. “Seeking the Magic Mushroom,” is an article by Wasson that detailed his mushroom discovery and findings. It appeared in Life magazine in 1957. The drug’s popularity as a psychedelic substance closely associated it with modern Hippie culture. Magic mushrooms, in particular, quickly gained recognition as a gateway to spirituality, and strong therapeutic uses.

Modern Use
Nowadays in Canada, the way people use psilocybin has started to get a lot of attention.
Taking very tiny amounts of psilocybin, a method called microdosing, is becoming popular for improving creative thinking and attention. Many people feel more fulfilled and better in general as a result. Additionally, researchers are looking into how using psilocybin might help treat different kinds of mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.
As more people want to try out the benefits of psilocybin, it’s very important to find trusted sellers such as ourselves, knowing that our products are safe and of high quality!

Future Use
A significant shift towards normalization and common use awaits the future of magic mushrooms. The potential it offers for personal fulfillment, as well as therapeutic benefits, remains under continuous exploration. Evolving research shines a light on our understanding of psilocybin’s extensive list of benefits. From mental health treatment to creative enhancement, the future of magic mushrooms is undergoing a gradual transformation.
As society and medicine continue to evolve, we hold the belief that psilocybin will integrate more significantly into mainstream society regarding well-being and mental development. The transformation it has made—from a stigmatized substance to an acknowledged tool—is indeed a wonderful leap for the advocacy of our fungal friends!
